Some good news to report...
Stuart Mayne and the team at Aurealis Magazine are working on the latest issue of Aurealis, Australia’s foremost and longest running magazine for short speculation fiction. My story, “Fragments of the Fractured Forever”, is appearing in this Issue along with contributions from Bill Congreve, Geoff Maloney & Felicity Dowker.
Here’s the opening from my story:
Club Continent is still packed, even though it's close to four on a Monday morning. Half naked bodies twist through glittering dance cubes in the pit below. EgyptoGroove is closest to the main entrance, a golden block of sunlight the size of a house. Dancers pivot and strut through the haze, kohl eyes and white linen kilts a tribute to the ancient pyramid-builders.
I clutch the railing of the catwalk suspended above dimly-lit bars. In the gloom I'm just another awkward guy watching from the sidelines. No-one can tell I'm pale, shaking and needing my life to end.
If you’re keen to read the rest, why not consider subscribing to Aurealis? $38 Aussie dollars buys you a 4-issue subscription and as a subscriber myself, I can guarantee it’s money well spent. More details on subscriptions here, including options for international subscribers.
