OK. I have been slack in updating this website, but rest assured there has been furious activity behind the scenes. Read on if you don’t believe me...

First and foremost, I’ve finished my second novel and submitted it to my agent. Huge relief, to be honest. I have a range of possible titles, but none of my test readers can agree on the best one. See what you get for asking other people’s opinions? I’ve handed the problem to my agent, whom I’m sure will sort it out quick smart.

Secondly, in a fit of altruistic madness, I took on responsibility for acting as the Co-Convenor for the 2010 Aurealis Awards. The “AAs” recognise achievement by Australian authors & editors in the genres of Fantasy, Science Fiction, Horror, for adults through to children. The ceremony for works published in 2010 will be held next May. To say this has been keeping me, and the other volunteers busy, is an understatement of trans-dimensional proportions. More can be found here.

Thirdly, I recently completed my first ever podcast at the request of the inestimable Mr Keith Stevenson of Coeur de Lion publishing. The story in question – “Black & Bitter, Thanks” – was short-listed for Best Science Fiction short story in the 2008 Aurealis Awards. If you think you might be amused by my attempts at sounding erudite, you can listen to the podcast here.

Fourthly, Orb Magazine revived in time to release a “best of” edition at the World Science Fiction convention held in Melbourne. Two of my stories appear within its sleek and stylishly retro covers. If you haven’t subscribed to Orb before, this is an excellent issue to start with.

So there you have it. I should have some more news about the Aurealis Awards soon.
